Thrift Store Reselling Nation (2/13/2013)
Change of Plans
A couple of days, I was about to write another blog post to update you on some of my recent auctions. I had several solid sales -no homeruns, unfortunately – but still they were some pretty good sales. I was copying and pasting some of my pictures when I received an email from Jim with some updates of his own and, after reading his email, I realized that there was no way I could continue with my blog post!
As you may know, boots – regardless if they’re military, designer, or casual - are my new favorite items to resell on eBay. In fact, I’ve been having so much success with them recently that I always make a bee-line to the boots section as soon as I enter the thrift store. So when I opened Jim’s email and saw the boots that he recently sold, I was floored. They are probably the most unique and interesting pair of boots that I’ve even seen from a thrift store and I was even happier to find out that Jim sold it for an amazing price!
Congrats Jim, you’re truly inspiring!

Oh how funny. If I saw those boots, I’m not even sure I would take a second glance at them….and I would never think they were UGGs..thanks for sharing!

I agree, I would’ve never thought they were UGG boots. Hello Kitty maybe but not UGG boots haha!
Hope you’re having a great day,

Wow. I have never seen UGGs like that. That was a nice find Jim! I sold my first pair of boots yesterday. A like new pair of Rocky Size Zipper Paraboots. Saver’s had them marked up to $24.99 (ugh) but I had a 20% discount so got them for $20.00 and sold them for $59.99. I have definitely been keeping my eyes out for boots.
I know, I’ve never seen UGG boots like that before. They’re so cool looking! And congrats on your Rocky boots, $30 is still a good profit but damn Savers and their inflated prices! haha How about your Goodwill’s? The one’s in my area still price them boots between $6.99-$9.99.
The Goodwills here are definitley priced lower than Savers. However, I did run across a pair of nice Nike Free Run Livestrong mens shoes at a Goodwill in Memphis. They were in excellent condition and they had them marked at $19.99. I sold them for $76.00, so still a very nice profit. Savers is definitely killing me on their prices.
Congrats on the sale! I was worried how the whole Lance Armstrong doping scandal would affect the Livestrong brand. But it’s good to know that the brand and the movement is bigger than one person.
These UGG boots are a perfect example to always investigate anything that catches your eye. Usually the crazier the style, the wilder the colors, the better it sells in a lot of cases. I find this especially true with older clothing.
I agree 100%. I think a big reason why this auction did so well (besides the UGG brand of course) was that it was so over-the-top! If it’s unique, strange, or just full of bright colors even, then it’s worth checking out. Thanks Jason!
